About the master
Anvar Alimbayev represents Uzbekistan’s tradition of woodcarving. In this work, geometric and vegetal motifs are not simply drawn on a surface: the depth of the cut makes shifting shadows and turns ornament into part of the structure.
His profile on Uzbekistan’s official tourism portal connects the master to a continuing school of carved wood. His practice is a reminder that architectural heritage rests on precise manual knowledge, from selecting and marking the timber to building depth with a chisel.
