About the master

Azamat Turekeev works with the Karakalpak tradition of yurt making. The maker is responsible not for a single decorative object but for a complete system: collapsible wooden lattice, roof elements, ties, and textiles must function precisely together.

An official Uzbekistan tourism feature describes the yurt as a spatial model of nomadic culture. The master’s work preserves engineering knowledge that cannot be separated from ornamental language, family memory, and the communal act of assembling a dwelling.
