About the master
Madina Kasimbaeva works with the traditions of Tashkent embroidery and suzani. Her pieces retain the unmistakable presence of handwork without being limited to reproducing old examples: composition and colour become ways of speaking to a contemporary audience.
Uzbekistan’s official tourism portal presents the maker and her practice as part of the country’s living culture. The story is not only the finished textile, but also collective labour, the duration of handwork, and the possibility of passing the technique forward.
